Sydney Loewen

I am a fifth year doctoral student pursuing my PhD in Health Psychology. I received my B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Merced in 2009. My current research investigates how individuals perceive their risk for various health threats; and, if their perceptions alter their protective behavior against those health threats. My current subject of interest is looking at how individuals perceive their chance of contracting a sexually transmitted infection and if this alters their sexual behavior. This line of research aims to inform current health communication and public health interventions in an attempt to make them more effective.
