Julia Burmistrova

MS Graduate 2019

After earning a dual-BS in Bio-environmental Engineering from Rutgers University (New Jersey), I moved all the way to sunny California to get an MS in Environmental Systems at UCM. My passion for environmental engineering education and waste management could not keep me away from graduate school. Currently, I am working on an anaerobic co-digestion project in tandem with Yosemite National Park and their Zero Landfill Initiative. The project is taking an innovative look at food waste and wastewater treatment, to reduce waste going to landfills and produce a renewable bio-gas. I hope to continue my work in environmental engineering by working for an sustainability consulting firm as the next step of my career.

Julia graduated with an M.S. in Environmental Systems in 2019 and is now working as a research associate at UC Merced focusing on remote sensing of aquatic environments.
