Studies have highlighted significant disparities in access to college readiness resources based on race and ethnicity, gender, language status, and disability status. However, there is currently no comprehensive measure for mapping the distribution of college readiness opportunities or monitoring equity in access over time. Existing landscape studies often focus on individual measures, providing only a limited view of broader patterns. Because students may benefit from and seek to take advantage of a range of college readiness opportunities, developing a comprehensive index can provide a more holistic way to measure, compare, and track access to these resources and identify equity gaps over time.
