About

I'm an applied microeconomist working with patent and publication data to identify the unintended spillovers of collaboration across international borders.  I love teaching and being in the classroom and have enjoyed the opportunities I have had to teach. I am blessed to have been able to offer such a varied number of courses over recent years. I look forward to continuing my own learning experience both in the classroom and in my research as I develop my career here at UC Merced.

As of 2016; my wife and I started Your Rain Systems Inc.; hoping to produce a partial solution to the eminent water crisis we face here in California. We recently won a $25,000 SAFE agreement to do patenting, proof-of-concept and move to the next stage of launch!

I do online web and social media management and consulting; and have built dozens of websites; currently maintaining around 8 for local businesses and non-profit organizations in and around Merced.

I chair or vice-chair the Merced Bicycle Coalition, a local non-profit.  I volunteer for numerous organizations; and have served as a member of the Bicycle Advisory Commission the last 4 years.

In a nutshell I'm a husband, father, Christian, economist, teacher, cyclist, snowboarder, longboarder, outdoorsman, vocalist, pianist and love to tinker with construction. Maybe Ben Jones is wrong and I can be a renaissance man after all?
