Current Projects

The Climate Toolbox

2015 - Present, CIRC

I'm a web developer for The Climate Toolbox -- a set of web tools at ClimateToolbox.org for visualizing summaries of climate datasets on maps and graphs utilizing climate data from the past and forecasts and projections for the future. This project is led by John Abatzoglou at the University of California Merced and supported by lots of different organizations including the NW NOAA-RISA, the Climate Impacts Research Consortium (CIRC).

Climate Engine Logo

2014- Present, NIDIS

I'm a web developer for Climate Engine -- a web tool at ClimateEngine.org for visualizing large climate and remote sensing datasets with on-the-fly processing from the Google Earth Engine. This project is led by Justin Huntington at the Desert Research Instutite (Reno,NV) and supported by lots of different organizations including NIDIS.

Technology for trade: new tools and new rules for water use efficiency in agriculture and beyond

2018 - Present, USDA-NIFA

I'm a data provider on a Technology for Trade project which aims to identify promising emerging technologies and synergistic policies, such as the use of water markets, to improve technical and allocative water use efficiency in irrigated agriculture. For this project, I am providing downscaled hindcasts from the North American Multi-Model Ensemble (NMME) project. This project is led by Jonathan Yoder at the Washington State University and funded by USDA-NIFA as a large Coordinated Agricultural Projects (CAP).

Coping With Drought

2020-Present, NIDIS

I'm a researcher on a "Coping With Drought" FY2020 project entitled "Improving drought indicators to support drought impact mitigation for natural resource management". For this project, we will develop a database of past drought impacts along with the indicators and thresholds that triggered the impact and incorporate this information into a decision support tool for the natural resources and recreation sectors. This project is led by Dr. Bart Nijssen (University of Washington) and Dr. John Abatzoglou (University of California Merced) and supported by NIDIS.

Climate Analogs of the National Parks

2020 - Present, National Park Service

I'm a researcher on a National Park Service sponsored project to develop future Climate Analogs for many points of interest in the US National Parks. I am also developing a web tool to visualize the results for the different locations and for the different climate analogs that come from using different metrics. This project is led by John Gross at the National Park Service.

Drought Recovery

2020 - Present, NIDIS

I'm a researcher on a project to look at the probability of drought recovery given present conditions and historical information. For this project, I am developing a web tool to visualize the information in real-time on maps and graphs. This project is led by John Abatzoglou at the University of California Merced and funded by NIDIS.
