Lopez-Arias Lab
The Lopez-Arias Lab advances the science and engineering of cementitious materials to shape the next generation of infrastructure. We investigate how materials behave from the microscale to the macroscale, developing multifunctional solutions that enhance durability, energy, and environmental performance.
Our research is focused on designing resilient materials for an evolving built environment. This includes strengthening infrastructure against natural hazards such as earthquakes and wildfires, improving structural integrity and service life through innovative reinforcement and smart-material strategies, and enhancing performance in response to energy demands, resource scarcity, environmental exposure, and the increasing frequency of extreme weather events.
