In 2022, we were tasked to conduct a health impact assessment to inform the Fresno Truck Reroute Study. The report is available on the Fresno City website here: https://www.fresno.gov/publicworks/south-central-truck-re-route-study/

The study highlights a lot of concerns in terms of the health effects of pollution and residential proximity to pollution sources such as truck route and freeways. We made several important recommendations to the City, including

• Avoiding truck routes within 1000 ft of residential areas or other sensitive receptors such as hospital, schools and daycare
• Implementing zero-emission trucks to reduce pollution exposure
• Given more disadvantaged communities are more affected, we also recommended special considerations for these communities
